Hey dude, none of us are heaping on OP specifically. What we’re criticizing is Batshit Babes (and the proposed Batshit Bros). The BSB posts are incredibly sexist and I haven’t met a female Oppo yet who thinks they’re cool.

Do you realize how frustrating it is to be one of Oppo’s few women members and see a barrage of “check out this crazy woman! Cuz we all know that bitches be batshit, huehuehue,” style posts on a regular basis, so much so that it’s become a regular feature of this place? They’re inevitably populated with comments that further reinforce sexist stereotypes, like “never stick your dick in crazy,” or (on the hilariously contradictory end of the spectrum), “crazy makes for the best lay.” Even when the comments don’t devolve that far, there’s still a plethora of other “crazy chicks! Huehuehue” comments that accomplish nothing more than to tell us women of Oppo, repeatedly, “This is not your place. You are not an equal here.”

I know you and I disagree on a lot of things, especially with these kinds of arguments (and I mean that word in an academic sense, not in the “this is a fight” sense), but I also think we agree or at least respect each other in a lot of other ways and about other topics. I hope that the goodwill fostered from that will be enough for you to have read this comment fairly and to take the time to examine the criticisms being levied here by me and the other women on this post.

Tap the brakes, bud. Everyone here has agency, everyone is an adult (ok, most everyone is an adult...). You keep speaking on others’ behalves, and it’s kinda annoying.

Also, FWIW, while I think BSB is Shitfest ‘93, there’s no “bad mojo” towards McMike. I think McMikes photoshops are pretty funny, and I get a kick out of other posts.

But, I think that casual sexism, like the stuff which gets tossed around as humor without the author/creator realizing that the joke is motivated by a stereotype, and a negative one at that, is part of the problem. It’s not always intentional and it’s sometimes hard to notice. But, it doesn’t mean it’s any less real. The joke punches down, and punches down in a lazy way. International Women’s Day is as much about celebrating women who have overcome adversity as it is about taking stock about where inequalities, often perpetuated by asymmetries in power, still exist.

No mojo, just realities.

Holy shit! I’ve never seen anything worse than the casual not-poorly-intended-but-poorly-thought-out attempts at humor at HPDE events. For example, making fun of a dude for getting beat by his girlfriend in his own car. I’m really glad I haven’t had to see that shit at my locals, because otherwise I probably wouldn’t be into driving on track, though I really wish they’d get rid of the ladies classes.
